Drug abuse among seniors is rising faster than the younger
generation. This is not a new problem, studies show that seniors have
been abusing drugs for year. Alcoholism is the number one drug abused
by the elderly while prescription medications are second, but pot,
cocaine and heroin are on the list too.
Staten Community Developers is a
non-profit organization in Baltimore, Maryland that will provide
programs specifically for seniors. The programs will provide a life
plan with obtainable goals and a transition plan to become
self-sufficient and substance abuse free. Staten Community Developers
is founded by senior Kelly Staten who knows
first hand about substance abuse and the road to recovery and becoming
drug-free. As a senior he has helped others to live
their
latter years more fulfilled and drug-free. Though many seniors have
health issues that require medications, Staten Community Developers
programs promote healthy living and self-care using alternative
methods.
